April can be vicious, but not this year. Even on the heels of modestly quiet weeks, the lack of activity this week was notable.
Although only a handful of tornado reports came in, New Orleans took a high precipitation supercell head on April 24. The storm was tornado warned at times in its life, and it was responsible for widespread wind damage in addition to tornadic activity.
Another small storm system worked through the central U.S. to close out the week. It created some beautiful skies, some wind and hail damage, as well as isolated tornadoes and tornado reports.
With March and April closing as among the least productive for tornadoes on record, and modeling iffy on any major potential anytime soon, we see continued reminders in how fickle tornado activity can be across the United States.
